The Seven Points Of Valor

Much of the Discipleship we expect our staff to model and build in their campers is based on these Seven Points of Valor :

Honor - A person of honor is a person of integrity; they guard every word and action against any falsehood.

Ephesians 4:25 says, “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”

Courage - A person of courage is one whose strength of mind enables them to overcome any fear or danger.

Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Chivalry - A person who is chivalrous shows respect for others.  They are considerate and puts others before themself.

Philippians 2:3–4 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Purity - A person who is pure is clean in heart, mind, speech and body.

Psalm 119:9–11 says, "How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

Loyalty - A person who is loyal is one who is true in affections and allegiance.

1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

Obedience - An obedient person is one who follows the commands of God’s Word and complies with the wishes of those in authority over them.

Psalms 119:33–34 says, “Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.”

Dedication - A dedicated person is one who has committed their whole self to Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:1–2 says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

The Romans Road to Salvation

Our Biblical basis for leading people to salvation through Jesus Christ are primarily the following scriptures taken from the book of Romans:

  • Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

  • Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.“

  • Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.“

  • Romans 10:9-10  If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

  • Romans 10:13 “for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
